Kep Province Overview

Welcome to Kep province, one of the four coastal provinces of Cambodia with an international tourism reputation, despite being the smallest province in terms of land area and population in Cambodia. With 12 beautiful islands and a coastline of 27 kilometers, Kep Province has a total land area of 209.94 square kilometers and is divided into 1 city, 1 district, including 5 communes and 16 villages. Kep Province has a population of over 45,000 and a population density of only 214 people per square kilometer as of 2023. About 34% of the population is employed in the service sector while about 51% are farmers relying on agriculture, and about 15% work in industry and handicrafts.

Owning a market of over 650 million population, a demographic dividend and relative lower cost of factor, Southeast Asian countries still have the potentials to further attract foreign investment. For example, Singapore has received the transfer of financial and high-tech capital from Hong Kong and mainland China, and Vietnam has seen a surge in foreign investment and manufacturing growth since its recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. This new wave of regional economic transition indicates a new trend in the new era:.

Development Goals

Kep Province is shaping a unique tourism identity by blending coastal charm with wellness, eco-experiences, and cultural authenticity. Through upgraded infrastructure, expanded tourist routes, and the development of high-end tourism offerings, the province is set to become a standout destination for immersive, full-region tourism anchored in sustainability and lifestyle appeal. Its strategic location near Vietnam and strong integration into southern coastal tourism corridors also provide investors with cross-border market access and regional connectivity, enhancing long-term growth potential.

Priority Industries

Kep Province is transforming into a high-end coastal destination, leveraging its stunning coastline, national park, and mild climate to develop luxury wellness resorts, coastal recreation, and agri-tourism. In partnership with Kampot, it is creating a southern tourism corridor linked to nearby islands. Kep also offers unique value in boutique agriculture, producing premium pepper, sea salt, seafood, and tropical fruits. With improving infrastructure and access to processing hubs, Kep is ideal for investors seeking sustainable, experience-driven growth in tourism and agri-value chains.

Key Priority Projects

Kep’s 11 priority projects promote inclusive and sustainable coastal growth. A new Skills and Learning Center will strengthen local capacity in tourism, agriculture, and entrepreneurship, focusing on youth and women. A Green Coastal Corridor will restore mangroves, protect biodiversity and support eco-tourism. Together, these projects build human capital, boost climate resilience, and position Kep as a model for low-impact, community-led development.

Incentive and Scheme

As part of the Coastal Master Plan, the Kep  investment is eligible for incentives under the Law on Investment of the Kingdom of Cambodia, aimed at encouraging private sector participation and fostering sustainable economic growth in the region.
