The Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) industry represents a global market of approximately $640B, within which the PCB Assembly (PCBA) segment accounts for $80B. Supply chain integration and proximity to final assembly hubs are the primary drivers of competitiveness in this sector.

Against this backdrop, Cambodia’s electronics industry is emerging as a participant in regional production networks. In 2024, according to GDCE, the country exported more than $1.8B in electronics products, concentrated in lamps and lighting ($568M), electric conductors ($590M), and automotive parts ($42M). These figures highlight Cambodia’s growing role in assembly-intensive product categories.

On 11 September 2025, Field surveys conducted at Samanea Innovation & Technology Park, by Coastal Masterplan Secretariat, identified operational production lines in headphones and LED modules, alongside early stage PCB assembly using SMT (surface-mount technology). These activities validate that technical capabilities are present, extending beyond basic assembly into component-level integration.

At the same time, Cambodia imported $27M of bare PCBs in 2024, underscoring reliance on external inputs and signaling a structural gap. This reliance indicates both vulnerability and a strategic opening: localized PCB supply and upstream component industries could significantly enhance competitiveness.

Cambodia’s electronics sector already demonstrates solid assembly capacity, with active production lines proving competitiveness in export-oriented manufacturing and room for expansion. However, the larger opportunity lies in deepening supply chain integration by attracting upstream suppliers of bare PCBs and electronic components. Understanding this trajectory and industry intelligence provides investors with clearer entry points and a way to manage risk.
